Today I had an unexpected visit from my brother, G. His wife is out of town so I suspected–out of boredom–he would appear at some point. Anyways, it was nice to see him. I was thankful for his company today.
We talked about his plans to do a piece for an upcoming art show and about our brother, J. and his new life in Montreal. We talked about his work and about how my sister-in-law will celebrate her December birthday. Then, G. asked me about my plans for work. No one really asks me much about myself anymore so it was very much appreciated. When you’re a stay-at-home mom, most people ask you about your children. You, as a human being, sort of disappear. It felt good to be able to talk about my goals, aspirations (and frankly, worries) about my career. What was even more appreciated is the way he actually listened to what I had to say. Like he was really interested.
Thank you G.!
