Today I am so very grateful for “Baba”. Baba is D.’s mom and she is here to stay with us for the week. Because of her presence, this morning I was able to take E. on a “date” to the park–just the two of us. What a wonderful morning we had together! I never get time on my own with E. I love Q. to bits but he’s always around me (which I do want) but I miss my one-on-one time with E.
This afternoon, Baba made her amazing chicken soup for us. It was such a delicious dinner. When you do most of the cooking all of the time, you really appreciate being cooked for. It felt like such a luxury to be served a yummy meal. She even cleaned up afterwards (we had to dash to gymnastics)!
Another great moment from today which I feel really thankful for is that E. pooped on the toilet tonight…all by himself! I was getting Q. ready for the bath and E. was beside me playing with the bouncy chair. All of a sudden, he dashed into our bathroom and shut the door. Usually, that means one thing…he’s about to poop in his underwear. E. is pretty good about not having any pee accidents if I take him regularly to the washroom. Pooping however has been a total miss for the past ~2 months. We have continued to keep him out of diapers because there isn’t much difference between washing poop out of a cloth diaper and washing poop out of underwear. I just kept hoping he would eventually get the hang of it. Well, I think we’ve figured out the secret to getting him to poop on the toilet. E. seems to want his privacy. When he dashed into the washroom, I called D. and he put him on the toilet and shut the door a bit. BINGO! It worked like a charm! Usually, I put him on the potty when he’s showing signs he has to go but he never does anything there. We’ve sorted out that our dear boy needs his quiet time to do his business!
